Moving About the Boat
Always maintain one hand for yourself and one for the boat. (Three points of contact)
Use handrails, grab rails and jacklines when moving around.
Notify others when going forward and never go on deck alone at night.
Galley Safety
Secure stove and appliances for sea before getting underway.
Use pot restraints and caution with hot liquids and food while cooking underway. (Use the water boiler when possible)
Head Safety
Only use the supplied boat toilet paper in the heads. Understand that literally anything else will clog the head.
Use the low side head if possible (if we’re sailing and heeled over)
If you accidentally put anything else in the head stop what you are doing immediately. Ask for neoprene gloves and a bucket and clear it or honestly ask any crew member it doesn’t matter. Taking apart the toilet while at sea is horrific and there’s no guarantee that it’ll go back together without leaking. It’s on the same level as losing the engine. If you’re unsure please ask. If I have to take apart a head I’m going to be super upset. Initial: _____________
